1. “方向”或“方面”的意思，是可数名词，注意和介词的搭配。

(1) 和介词 in 搭配，表示“朝……方向”“在……方面”。例如：

She went off in the opposite direction. 她往相反的方向走了。

另外，注意 in the direction of（朝……的方向，相当于 towards）和 in sb’s direction（朝某人的方向，相当于 towards sb）这两个搭配。例如：

He is walking in the direction of the police station. 他正朝警察局的方向走去。

(2) 和介词 from 搭配，表示“从……方向”“从……方面”。例如：

No further sound came from that direction. 从那个方向没传来更多声音。

2. 当“指导”或“指挥”讲时，是不可数名词。表示“在……的指导下”，和介词 under 连用。例如：

We work under his direction. 我们在他的指导下工作。

3. 当“指示”“指引”“用法说明”等讲时，通常用复数形式。例如：

He gave us directions to the railway station. 他告诉我们去车站怎么走。

有时也表示邮件上的“姓名地址”，这时也用复数形式。例如：
